The full SCREEN FOREVER 2018 program is now live
SCREEN FOREVER 2018 kicks off at the Crown Conference Centre Melbourne in just two days time.
This year’s theme – “When the Mavericks Went Mainstream” – should resonate with many of you who, by making the very choice of being part of the screen industry, have a maverick element in your DNA.
Screen Producers Australia trusts that after three days of immersion with our eclectic guest speakers featuring the screen sectors’ linchpins, artists, creators and visionaries you will be inspired to take that impulse further and wider than ever before.
This year features over 70 keynote addresses, panels and networking events, plus the introduction of the Unplugged Sessions, a relaxed zone where creative duos from all sides of the industry take each other on in an intimate 30 minute interview session.
We are excited at the level of international talent to grace our shores this year, including Hollywood royalty Gary Foster, significant comedy influencer Debbie Liebling, Emmy award winning producer Nathan Ross, Gersh Agents Jeff Greenberg and Sean Barclay, YouTube Originals’ Amanda Barclay, Shaw Rocket Fund’s Agnes Augustin, Netflix Director of content acquisition Lauren Smith, Knightfall Showrunner Dominic Minghella, VR technologist and trailblazer Amit Shalev, AMC’s Chris Loveall, Co-Executive Producer and Writer of Netflix Original GLOW Sascha Rothchild, Writer and Director Daniel Reisinger, Mother Media Group’s Eden Gaha, Maker Films’ John Finemore, and SF Studios’ Tim King.
2018 also marks the first year we have welcomed an international delegation from Malta, with Malta Film Commissioner, Johann Grech, and Senior Executive to the Film Commissioner, Daniel Camilleri engaging with delegates as part of the International Partnership Market at SPA CONNECT. We also celebrate the return of delegates from New Zealand, with TVNZ’s Edward Kindred participating in Up Fronts, and producers Bailey Mackey and Kerry Warkia and SPADA’s Sandy Gildea hosting a panel on trans-Tasman collaborations.
In addition, the SCREEN FOREVER 2018 program features the range of talent to be expected from Australia’s premiere screen event. Australian icon Leah Purcell will deliver this year’s Hector Crawford Memorial Lecture, Inventor and Futurist Dr Jordan Nguyen will present the Visionary Keynote Address, 18 leading Development Executives, Commissioning Editors and Programmers from 5 distinctive local networks will participate in Up Fronts, ABC’s flagship program Q&A returns to set delegates thinking, talking and debating about the big issues facing Australia’s screen industry, and is joined on the first day of proceedings by a live rendition of fellow ABC format You Can’t Ask That, brought to you by the Screen Diversity and Inclusion Network (SDIN).
In all, over 200 leading creatives and creative executives will address varied topics ranging from the future of children’s programming, to the new voices in Indigenous storytelling, commissioning content for SVODs, adapting overseas formats for local markets and innovations in virtual production.
