Andrew Knight is a multi-award-winning Australian writer and producer; known for co-producing and writing for Jack Irish; writing half of the episodes for Rake, alongside creator Peter Duncan; and cowriting Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge with Robert Schenkkan, for which he received AACTA and AWGIE Best Screenplay Awards and a BAFTA nomination.

In 2015, Andrew was the recipient of Australian film and television’s highest accolade, the AACTA Longford Lyell Award for outstanding contribution to the enrichment of Australia’s screen environment and culture. That same year, he was granted the most esteemed prize at the AWGIE Awards, winning the Major Award for The Water Diviner screenplay (with co-writer Andrew Anastasios), as well as the award for Best Screenplay for an Original Feature.

In 1989, Andrew co-founded Artist Services for which he was the Creative Director. The production company became the top production house in the country, producing a string of successful TV series for free-to-air and cable until its sale to Granada. Andrew has written both international and Australian features, and written, produced, co-created or executive-produced more than 1000 hours of television.

Recent credits include co-writing the films Ride Like A Girl with Elise McCredie and Ali’s Wedding with Osamah Sami, the television adaptation of Peter Temple’s The Broken Shore, and an episode of The Kettering Incident. Other iconic titles in Andrew’s cannon include After the Deluge, Kangaroo Palace, SeaChange, The D-Generation, Siam Sunset, Fast Forward, and The Broken Shore. 

Andrew has received multiple AWGIE, ACCTA and FCCA Awards and nominations for Rake, Ali’s Wedding and Jack Irish among others. Andrew has a busy slate of projects in development both in Australia and internationally.
