Babacar Diene – Vice President, Acquisitions & Development, Voltage Pictures
Babacar Diene is currently Vice President, Acquisitions & Development, at international finance, production and distribution company Voltage Pictures (The Hurt Locker, Dallas Buyers Club). Since joining Voltage in 2012, Diene has been closely involved in several exciting, upcoming projects, including the feature films Fathers & Daughters starring Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried and Aaron Paul; Pay The Ghost starring Nicolas Cage; and Good Kids among others. Previously, Diene was Vice President, Acquisitions & Apsara Distribution at IM Global, as well as holding positions at Icon Entertainment International and GreenseStreet Films International.
Before moving to Los Angeles, Diene graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in International Relations.
To date, Voltage’s films have been nominated for 15 Academy Awards, 5 Golden Globes, and won 9 Academy Awards and 2 Golden Globes. Several films were also nominated or won PGA, DGA, SAG, BAFTA, Independent Spirit awards and other prizes. Voltage has a number of projects in post-production including; I.T., directed by John Moore and starring Pierce Brosnan, Stefanie Scott, Anna Friel, James Frecheville and Michael Nyqvist and The Secret Scripture, directed by Jim Sheridan and starring Rooney Mara, Jack Reynor, Venessa Redgrave and Eric Bana among others.
Natalie Portman’s directorial debut, A Tale of Love and Darkness was selected as a Cannes 2015 Film Festival special screening. It premiered on May 18th, 2015.
