In 2009, David Jowsey formed Bunya Productions with award winning filmmaker Ivan Sen. Bunya Productions is a boutique independent feature film production company based in Sydney and Brisbane. David produced Toomelahby Ivan Sen, which was selected for the Cannes Film Festival 2011 in Un Certain Regard. David also Produced the 2011 Sundance selected feature film Mad Bastards by Brendan Fletcher and Satellite Boy by Catriona McKenzie which premiered at the 2012 Toronto Film Festival and had its European premiere in the Generation section at Berlin. David then produced Ivan Sen’s next film Mystery Road which received a Special Presentation at the 2013 Toronto Festival. In 2015 David produced Jasper Jones based on the best selling novel and directed by Rachel Perkins as well as Ivan Sen’s latest film Goldstone. David most recently produced Sweet Country directed by Warwick Thornton which won the Special Jury Prize at the 2017 Venice Film Festival and the Platform Prize at the 2017 Toronto Film Festival and the television series Mystery Road which premiered on the ABC in June 2018.
Until 2009, David Jowsey was Commissioning Editor of Documentaries at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC TV) in Sydney and prior to this an Executive Producer at ABC TV. Before joining the ABC, David was the Executive Producer at CAAMA Productions in Alice Springs.
David will be hosting two Roundtables with Greer Simpkin – the first about filming in the outback and the second about supporting your distributor’s marketing campaign.
