John Finemore and James Hoppe are the co-founders of Maker Films Pty Ltd, an Australian film and TV development, finance and production company. Finemore has over ten years’ experience in raising capital, investment structures, development, packaging, talent deals, production and global sales / distribution for feature film and TV.
In 2014, Finemore, along with producing partner and co-founder Hoppe, launched US production entity Lost City, Inc. (Maker Films’ US subsidiary). Finemore and Hoppe negotiated and executed an exclusive producing deal with Oscar nominated producer Mason Novick (Juno) and his company MXN Entertainment.
In June 2018, Hoppe, Finemore and Chris Hemsworth launched Australian production company Thematic Entertainment with Ben Grayson acting as VP of Development & Production.
Finemore has produced seven feature films of which recent productions include; the indie drama NEWNESS, starring Nicholas Hoult and Laia Costa, directed by Drake Doremus, along with the Netflix original, ARQ, starring Robbie Amell and Rachael Taylor. Newnesspremiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival while ARQ premiered at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival. Finemore is currently producing Buffaloed, starring Zoey Deutch, Judy Greer & Jai Courtney and directed by Tanya Wexler (Hysteria), which wrapped production in Toronto in October 2018.

Ready, Steady, Pitch!
Maker Films is seeking pitches for limited and returnable series. Both half hour and hour formats of any genre. Shows can be high end, premium and/or event series of international scope, tackling big ideas in expansive worlds, or focused stories that revolve around idiosyncratic characters in contained worlds that have the capacity to captivate global audiences.
Maker Films is also seeking feature film pitches in the elevated genre space. Unique concepts set in interesting worlds about distinct characters that can play to global audiences. Maker is interested in material that can be produced either locally or internationally and is open to stories set in Australia or overseas.
Australian creative talent has a strong track record of individual success in the US: actors, directors, DOP’s, writers and more.
