Karen Eck is a specialist in publicising and promoting leaders and their brands in the entertainment, media and business world.
With 25 years of international media and publicity experience, she has worked with some of the biggest entertainment names in television, including Oprah Winfrey, Donald Trump and Mark Burnett.
Karen founded eckfactor in the United States in 1999, managing publicity campaigns for the Discovery Channel, National Geographic, Columbia Tri-Star International and USA Networks.
She then became the event media director for Eco-Challenge, the global expedition race series created by Mark Burnett, executive producer of Survivor, the worldwide reality TV phenomenon. Karen managed international media teams for Eco-Challenge races in Argentina, Borneo, Morocco and New Zealand.
eckfactor relocated to Sydney in 2001 and is now a premier publicity agency in Australia and New Zealand: partnering with an impressive slate of blue-chip clients to enhance their brands, and creating news with celebrity PR campaigns that excite both mainstream and social media.
As well as her media expertise Karen is the general manager and co-founder of Plus1 Talent, an international celebrity management company. Its client list includes Darren McMullen, actor and TV host of the Channel Nine ratings blockbuster, The Voice, and Dan Debuf, one half of the Dan and Maz breakfast show, two of the brightest stars in the Southern Cross Austereo radio network.
eckfactor enjoys an excellent reputation, built on planning and proactivity, creativity and teamwork, dedication and discretion – hallmarks of the true media professionals. These are the qualities that have forged a 10-year relationship with Sony Pictures Television, five years with Discovery Networks, and continue to impress clients seeking long-term connections with the experts who always deliver: eckfactor.
Before founding eckfactor Karen worked in publicity for ABC-TV and was a senior publicist for the Nine Network. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from the University of Canberra.
