Eden Gaha, Daniel Reisinger, Tim King and John Finemore to return to Australia to share the highs and lows of global expansion at SCREEN FOREVER
SCREEN FOREVER 2018 welcomes the return of a super cluster of international executive and creative screen talent that have carved out significant success in their areas of expertise.
Special international guest speaker, Eden Gaha, has traversed a television career which has featured the leap from in front, to behind the camera and across continents from Australia to the US to emerge as one of the most formidable global players in unscripted entertainment.
After 15 years in unscripted television in the US, evolving from PA to President, Gaha left his role as unscripted president of Endemol Shine America in 2017. During that time, he oversaw the launch of MasterChef Jr. and sustained the longevity of the MasterChef franchise. Prior to joining Shine America, Gaha worked at Mark Burnett Productions, as showrunner and executive producer on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice for five seasons and also served as co-executive producer for The Contender and Rock Star.
Gaha has recently launched production company, Mother Media Group with Wynn Rees a former attorney for 20th Century Fox and fellow expat. MMG has inked deals with Amazon and earlier this year signed a deal with STXtv to create, produce and distribute unscripted and hybrid series for broadcast networks, new media and cable in the U.S., China, India and other international markets.
At SCREEN FOREVER, Gaha will feature in an “In Conversation” moderated by Chris Oliver-Taylor (CEO, Fremantle Australia) and take part in the “Formatting Disruption” panel with Kylie Washington (Director of Production, AUS & NZ BBC Studios), Bailey Mackey (Founder & CEO, Pango Productions (NZ)) and Nick Fordham (CEO, The Fordham Company), to discuss the adaptation of formats, the current threats and opportunities and the future of formats.
Tim King, EVP Production, SF Studios, Sweden, has been working at Sweden’s oldest and most esteemed film production house which is navigating a successful shift into TV development. He’s flying into Melbourne to discuss the supernatural genre and its global appeal with Vicki Madden (Showrunner, The Gloaming) and Glen Dolman (Showrunner, Creator and Executive Producer, Bloom) on the “Mystical Noir and the Global Zeitgeist” panel to explore the mix of creative passion and market pragmatism that underpins supernatural genre drama in the international market.
From making music videos for Deltra Goodrem to co-creating the millennial dating nightmare triumph Sideswiped, the path to success has been a journey of great tales for Daniel Reisinger (Co-Creator, Sideswiped and Director, Infinity Squared). Reisinger will take part in “The Digital Changelings” panel with Luke Eve (Producer and Director, More Sauce), Amanda Barclay (Scripted Current and Development, YouTube Originals) and Ryan Chamley (writer/director, Rostered On) to discuss the experiences of overnight success in the digital realm, how to leverage an online audience and how to work with new platforms.
In 2018 John Finemore launched Thematic Entertainment with Chris Hemsworth and John Hoppe with a remit to utilise its Australian and international partners to create and develop globally appealing productions. He will join his Thematic Entertainment Co-Founder, James Hoppe and Aran Michael (Agent, Aran Michael Management) on the “Funding Aussiewood” panel to address pathways and alliances for Aussie-US co-productions.
